Things are looking up:) Had a fantastic run today, probably the best all year. Clocked 9.73km in 43:30 (4:28/km), speeding up the whole time, culminating in a 3:35 last k:) Legs felt great, although I did have to stop after 2km with tight calves (probably just because I didn't really warmup, just went from 0 to 4:30/k straight away).
I really wasn't expecting to bounce back this quickly from the race on Saturday. My legs were feeling utterly destroyed, and after doing a 28km ski on Sunday, I was rewarded with upper body soreness to complete the outfit:) I was planning on doing a short run on Monday night in spite of it, but upon experiencing foot pain during the walk home from work, I decided my body was trying to send me a message and stuck to the cross-trainer. Rest plus sleep must've been exactly what I needed because I woke up today feeling energetic and not even a little bit sore:D
----------
The plan for this week is to follow the hill phase schedule, but only do 45 minutes of running a day (with the remainder made up on the cross trainer). Next week I'll do 65 minutes a day and hopefully the week after that, I'll be able to get a full week of training in before I start tapering for the Kangaroo Hoppet (Aug 30).
---------
I think I'm going to start following the 'Hundred pushups' program. It almost certainly will not help my running at all (might help with skiing though), but I've always wanted to be able to do 100 pushups in one set. Back when I used to do them regularly, I got up to 75, and I don't think it would've been much of a stretch to move up another 25, but I just fell off the wagon of consistency, and before you know it, I was struggling to do 30. I was pleasantly surprised to quite easily manage 50 on Sunday night without having done them in months. Considering how much of a learned neuromuscular component they have to them, it shows I have quite a bit of strength lying around:)
----------
Stats for last week: 160.47km/16:05 (Running: 35.19km/2:56 = 5:00/k)
Almost made it to sub 5:00/k! Fastest week all year!

Hi Jeremey
100 push up is hard to imagine.
actually I should be struggling if I just try to do 30 in one set.
Glad to know that you still have pretty good running progess even though you have done much ski recently. You are really energetic and strong in my perceptive (my fitness cannot afford to do other sport when I undertake the running schedule)
Thx for your words from my blog so far :) . As an old Monash student (it is my year 3 sem 2 out of 4 years double undergrad), I am able to seek for help if I am really desperated. I am still confident I can overcome current studies, but my concern is something about the future like .... how to find job here with my poor English.. sth like this...
Anyway I will keep going... just like what I am doing in my running journey.
