Time off

Totals for last week: 103.47km/13:49:11 (Running: 23.11km/2:00:06 = 5:12/k)

I guess it was a fairly good rest week, my legs feel fresher than they have in quite a while. The achilles isn't feeling too bad. I've been following this strengthening program for the last few days, and it feels like it's doing something. I'm starting to realise that strengthening isn't something you do for a few weeks and then give up once you're over an injury. It's like water restrictions - no-one really likes them, but they're a good idea even when the dam's are full. If I had kept up a routine of doing heel raises twice a day, I probably would have never developed achilles issues. When you're running well though, you don't want to think about what could go wrong, you just hope that it lasts forever.

Went for a good bike ride on my new bike on Saturday. About 60k on bike paths. Lots of fun, but my arse was a bit sore by the end lol. Yet another piece of supporting evidence for gel seats! Hit 56kph down a big hill close to home, wheee:D

Sunday saw me predictably going up to the snow with my dad and sister. It was a fantastic day, definitely the best all season. There was even more snow than last week, and better yet, it wasn't snowing, or raining or precipitating at all! It was almost a blue sky day! I really enjoyed it:) My calves were very tight at the start, making it quite painful to skate up hills. Then I realised that having two layers of compression pants (skins + ski tights) on may have had something to do with it, and after rolling them up, it was much better. I'm sure I looked like a nutcase, but after all it was only 2 degrees, easily shorts weather!

Sore abs!
